Math Question of the Day:
Buried underneath was a great man Diophantus. One-sixth of his life was spent in happy childhood. After one-twelfth of his life, he grew a beard. After one-seventh of his life, he got married and had a son 5 years later. However, the child only lived for half the life span of his father. After the death of his son, Diophantus lived in sadness for another 4 years before he died.
How long did Diophantus lived?
(Diophantus, 3rd century, Greece)

ReplyDeleteMust finnish homework first...
ReplyDelete.1/6 childhood .after 1/12 a beard .After 1/7 got married .five years later,a son .child lived 1/2 fathers life span .4 years in sadness(changing it into numbers)
ReplyDeletechange the fractions into the same.He lived for 84 years.
ReplyDeletewhen you change them into the same denominator it should be,14/84 for childhood,7/84 for a beard,12/84 for getting married and 42/84 for child's life span. You add them together and use 84 to subtract answer which is 75 and you will get 9 years. the 9 years are the 5 years later,a son and 4 years in sadness.
ReplyDeleteUrm.. brain juice running out. Is it 84years?
ReplyDeleteOh ya what if i don't have my traditional costume? What do I wear? Tomorrow have Math PALM right?

ReplyDeleteTomorrow, 22 JULY 2009,is the day where there would be a total solar eclipse and in Singapore,we would only see a partial one. Wearing sunglasses alone will not help to protect your eyes when looking at the sun. In fact, we are not suppose to look at the sun even during a solar eclipse. Please take note of this. :)
