My example of real life: 1 cook can cook a dinner for 10 persons. He needed 5kg chicken and 4kg of pototoes, if there are 100 customer come to the restaurant,he can use ratio to help him to count.
ReplyDeleteWorking: Chicken there were 5kg while potatoes there were 4kg for only 10 person . So the ratio is 5:4(10 person)
100 person= 10x of 10 person
Which means= 5:4 x10 = 50:40
Hence we know he will need 50kg of chicken and 40kg of potatoes to prepare dinner for 100 person.

Ratio is like fraction and it is easier to count. Real life example can be counting or comparing the amount of something like Tom has 2chicken for every 3 eggs.It is called 2:3.
ReplyDeleteReal life example:My grandmother use to fry 5 chicken nuggets for Rissa(my sister)and myself. My sister will take 3 and I will take 2.Hence,the ratio of chicken nuggets I share with my sister is 2:3.
ReplyDeleteWe use ratio to compare things. A real life example: If there are 30 boys and 15 girls in a classroom, the ratio of boys to girls is 2:1.
ReplyDeleteWorking:Boys:Girls
30 :15
2 :1
Ratio is like an two amount of things to make something or total (e.g Mr soh need 2 kg of flour and 1kg of butter to make butter biscuits. What is tehe ratio from flour to butter?
ReplyDeleteAns: 2:1
Mathematics The relation between two quantities expressed as the quotient of one divided by the other: The ratio of 7 to 4 is written 7:4 or 7/4.
ReplyDeleteWhen we use ration instead of diagrams, we no need to draw the diagrams but can write the ratio.(ex. Mr. Soh has thrice as much money as Tim. If they have total of 400 dollars, how much does Tim have?) We write 3:1 because Mr. Soh has 3 units and I have 1 unit. The answer is 100 dollars.
