What causes animals to be extinct or endangered? What can we do to prevent this from happening?
Some of you discussed about the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna today. Can you find out why the number of this animal is dwindling?

  1. Hunters and poachers killed them. The hunters should not hunt so much.

As many people likes to eat tuna , when they find a knd a kind of tuna.Pollution in water(meantion in Q1.),soil erosion .Not enough dissolved air in water as many water plants died because of the muddy water that does not allow light to pass through it,so the plants could not make food and and will not produce oxygen in the water and eventually die.Wastage of water.

  3. Reasons animals are endangered:

    1. Destruction of habitat

    2. Shortage of food

    3. Not enough reproduction

    4. Hunting of animals for their beautiful, almost priceless skin/fur

    5. The uses of their body parts

    Prevention:

    1. Try to use less paper as 1 piece of paper = 7 trees.(prevents Destruction of habitat)

    2. Try not to buy leather of endangered animals.

    3. Help out in the zoo.

    4. Do not litter or pollute the sea.

PS: I didn't copy or paste.

PPS: I did not find this in a website...I just explained it myself.

PPPS: I will explain about the blue-fin tuna later.(and it will be based on a website)

  4. about the blue-fin tuna:

It is a highly prized fish for sports and it's one of the most valuable fish in the ocean. It can grow to a length of more then 10 feet long and weighs over 1,500 lbs. Blue fin tuna are found in all warm oceans and they can move far and wide. It could swim at a speed of more then 30 miles an hour. They feed on smaller fishes. Fishing on these fishes had been banned as the species are going extinct.

I think their population is decreasing is because of the taste of their meat. They are said to be quite tasty as sushi.

PS: I don't know why the website is sooooooo long.

    PPS: I haven't tasted blue-fin tuna sushi

PPPS: But I would like to try if the animal isn't so endangered

  5. Commecial hunting or fishing of animals, poaching, lost of habitat, polluting, viruses and diseases and climate change. We can prevent this from happening by organising campaigns to encourage people to save wildlife. I think that tuna is delicious.

Humans hunting the animals for food, medical purposes and their skin for making bags. The Bluefin tuna is endangered because of mans' overfishing.we can help them by not overfishing and not to kill animals just for unnecessary puposes.

  7. i think that the Blue fin tuna is endangered as people like me that also like to eat the Blue fin tuna ate too much of it that the Blue fin tuna felt that they rather commit suicide themselves then to be eaten by us...
(note! i cant find in the internet so i only wrote down my idea...)

  8. i asked my father and he said that it was because of the over poaching of the Blue fin tuna, causing it to be dwindling.. i will miss my favourite tuna sushi very much after no more tunas are on earth...

  10. Some interesting comments from some of you. I believe overfishing is the main culprit for the Bluefin Tuna to be endangered. I guess it is tough to ask people not to eat tuna so I hope there is a better solution.
Maybe commercial farming of Bluefin tuna will help. What do you think? Do you think it is viable?

    ReplyDelete
  11. yes...but they'll have to ban Bluefin tuna fishing in the sea first.

  12. There are several reasons why animals become extinct.
    • Some animals are over-hunted or poached (hunted illegally for profit).

    • The natural habitats that have supported some species are being developed, animals living in them not able to migrate to safe areas, or to adapt to different conditions.

    • Environmental issues sometimes include various substances that are poisonous to some animals, or that cause dangerous population imbalances among species.

    • There is also the natural process of change that has operated for millions of years. The vast majority of species that have ever lived on earth is now extinct.

How to prevent animals from extinct?

    • Do not over-hunted or poached animals.
    • Leave enough natural habitats for animals to live.
    • Taking good care of our environment by 3 easy steps, reduce, reused and recycle.
    • Used Power of the media and our commitment to protecting animals to the most we can. Example: Do not eat shark fins!

Below is an interesting link which gives us lots information about mass extinction of animals.

  13. By The way, I think the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna is endangered because of the colour of it's skin as the skin is brightly coloured and is easy to catch.(maybe).

I also think that the meat should be nice and alot of people like to eat it. we sometime eat their eggs(Which is on some sushi) and the Japanese may eat their meat as sashimi. So, my conclusion is we overfish them!!!!!!!!!! \

Another reason could be the enviroment around them. they might not have enough food or oxygen because of sea pollusion like oil spill (As Rizqan's group had said before in their fish story)

PS: I did not do research for this report so I might be wrong somewhere.....

  14. I think they hunt to much blue fin tunas so they are extinct.Or may be they got polluted and could not reproduce faster than the hunters could kill them. HoooooooRay! i do not need to jab flu jab cause hktrip i already jab and to day i learned how to swollow a tablet! ReplyDelete
  15. What does that have to do with the Bluefin tunas?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, animals are endangered or even extinct because of the following reasons:
    1. Poaching
    2. Demand for skins
    3. Demand for other parts of the animal bodies either for profit or medical usage

The number of bluefin tunas are dwindling as
    1. Overfishing
    2. Because of the price on their heads
    3. I think that's about it...

The fact is that blue fin tunas are incredibly big and weigh just like a car.

  18. What does Vivienne's answer got to do with the question? T_T

  19. Hi Vivienne,
Are you sick? Hope you will recover soon. By the way, it is difficult to comprehend your message. I think you need to spell the words correctly. For example, what is "awe ser"? After thinking for a while, I realised you meant "ulcer".
    Have a good weekend.

  20. Mr Soh..since Vivienne had an ulcer and she cant talk, she would not be able to have a good weekend.. haha...LOL..
